As I watch you cross the road
Walk past the old departmental stores
Disappear around the alleyway
Off to bright but distant shores
My heart aches!
The minutes turn into hours and days
I remember you skipping around the lake
Your hair, then undone, while I gaze
I didn’t know what was at stake
And now my heart aches!
The gifts you got me that humid afternoon
A torch, cells, nails, and candies from dinner last night
I didn’t realise time will fly so soon
My treasure box already feels so light
And so my heart aches!
