Winter and spring, lie within

It was a cold long winter, and the branches were bound,

She searched for light, couldn’t be found

Spring saw sprouts of green

Gleeful she was within

Her branches reached out to him

As he grew to the skies

Her branches touched him, grew, but not fast enough

She couldn’t catch up

The greens retreated, fall gripped her

Orange and red, anger within

He was too high to see

Her branches, the ones grew toward him, drooped, falling far from him

Soon, the sparrows built their nest in her hard, dry hollow

She knew, winter will not be alone,

The sparrow babies will chirp,

Whilst she looks forward to her spring.
